Pilots - Fly with ECAF
There's a lot of reasons taildraggers are still relevant and the training is worth doing. Most importantly for us, classic aircraft!
You may be looking for tailwheel training as part of the transition training process to your own aircraft or tailwheel time for insurance purposes, or maybe... the classics!
Whatever the reason, ECAF is an excellent place to start. Training starts on the 1966 Fleet Canuck, also built for training, it is an excellent airplane to start your tailwheel training.
"C-FUXN is as forgiving as it is honest. Honest enough that you have to fly the plane, from walk around to closing up the hangar doors less it gets away on you, and forgiving enough that you can learn the subtlety and finesse that all taildraggers demand."
-Commodore Andew Doll, Canuck Pilot
Interested in learning to fly Warbirds? Would you like to volunteer with ECAF?
We are always looking to recruit new pilots with a passion for preserving aviation history. In order to fly the Warbirds with paying passengers, pilots must hold at least a CPL, have 15 hour tailwheel time, contribute to ECAF with "sweat equity", and be checked out by our Chief Pilot.
Interested in learning to fly tailwheel?
Our Fleet Canuck tailwheel trainer is the perfect opportunity to learn! We offer sponsorship packages that can take a Private or Recreational pilot with zero tailwheel experience all the way to solo. There are also opportunities to fly the Canuck for events such as Fly-Ins. Minimum experience is 150 flight hours to join ECAF as a pilot.
